In traditional Chinese culture, paper talismans with phrases written on them would be placed on the doorposts of the main entrance of a house. The phrases were typically blessings for good health, peace, safety, and protection, or some sort of material wealth. It wouldn’t be unusual to hang them up year round. This calligraphy is one of a kind!
Good Fortune
The word 福 is often translated as “good fortune”, but it carries many meanings. Depending on the context it can mean good luck, blessings, and non-material wealth, such as family, friends, health, and happiness. No matter what this means to you, it is undeniably a word that encompasses all the good things in life.
